Commenting on reports of details of the Transport for London negotiations between the Government and the Mayor of London, Dr Alison Moore AM, Chair of the London Assembly Transport Committee, says:
"For the sake of London and Londoners we need a decent deal that allows for a sustainable and safe public transport system to keep running. This is vital for London’s recovery and, in turn, the country’s. It is essential if we’re to protect jobs and livelihoods and see London through this pandemic and enable the recovery from it.
"Without a deal, the capital could grind to a juddering and chastening halt. The consequences for the UK economy in terms of jobs and revenue would be devastating. The interests of Londoners must be at the heart of these negotiations and should inform the terms of this deal.”
