Statement on the Grenfell Tower Anniversary

grenfell 2x1
Created on
14 June 2019

“Today, and every day, we stand together with the Grenfell community.”

Jennette Arnold OBE AM, Chair of the London Assembly, said:

“Two years on from the tragic events at Grenfell, we are still mourning. The fire caused 72 deaths. More than 70 others were injured, and 223 people escaped in what was the worst UK residential fire since the Second World War.

“As we endure the long investigations into the disaster, we hope and pray for no other such events to devastate our city.

“We continue to give our support to those who lived in the building and lost precious loved ones. And extend our gratitude for the bravery of the individual men and women of the fire brigade and other emergency services for their actions that night, under huge pressure. They will never forget the scenes.

“Today, and every day, we stand together with the Grenfell community.”
