The Mayor has today unveiled what he is calling the world’s most advanced and comprehensive network of air quality monitors.
In response, Caroline Russell AM, Chair of the London Assembly Environment Committee, said:
"As a Committee we have repeatedly pushed for measures that respond to the scale of the air quality crisis. We cannot move fast enough or quickly enough to address this pressing issue.
“So, at first sight, we welcome the Mayor’s initiative. If monitoring allows people to access forecasting information that reduces their exposure to pollution, it could potentially protect the health of Londoners.
“However, knowing there is a problem without the ability to avoid it helps no-one, which is why monitoring can only ever be part of the answer.”
