Responding to reports that Conservative MP Sir David Amess has died following an incident at his constituency surgery, Andrew Boff AM, Chair of the London Assembly, said:

“The London Assembly is deeply saddened and shocked at the awful news that Sir David Amess has lost his life while serving his constituents and community.

“Violence has no place in politics and all elected representatives should be able to carry out their duties without fear of attack.

“All at the London Assembly send our condolences to Sir David’s loved ones and to all those who knew him at this horrific time.”
