“My thoughts are with the three people who have been injured in the despicable attack that occurred in the early hours of the morning at Al-Majlis Al-Hussaini Islamic Centre in Cricklewood. The Metropolitan Police have now confirmed that this is being dealt with as an Islamophobic hate crime, and they are doing all they can to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We need to be clear that hate crime and Islamophobia have no place on our streets and will not be tolerated. In Brent, our strength comes from our diverse and vibrant community life, enjoyed by people from a multitude of backgrounds.
“I am sure that local residents and faith groups will join me in offering our solidarity and support to the Muslim community during this time.
“As the local London Assembly Member, I will be continuing to work closely alongside the Mayor to clamp down on hate crime in all of its forms.
“I would urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward immediately to report it to the police”.
