Created on
17 December 2019

In the 2019 Spending Round, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced funding for an additional 20,000 police officers across England and Wales but it is unclear how many officers will be recruited for London and confirmation of this will not be received before January 2020.

The London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee will tomorrow review MOPAC’s Budget for 2020-21 with questions on police numbers, funding gaps and effectiveness of MOPAC spend.

The guests are:

Sophie Linden, Deputy Mayor Policing and Crime

Peter Lewis, Chief Finance Officer, MOPAC

Robin Wilkinson OBE, Chief of Corporate Services, Metropolitan Police Service

Ian Percival, Finance Director, Metropolitan Police Service

David Gallie, Assistant Director of Finance, GLA

The meetings will take place on Wednesday, 18 December at 1:30pm in The Chamber, at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE via webcast or on our YouTube channel.
