News from Len Duvall: Response to TfL Bus Consultation Announcement
In response to the launch of Transport for London’s consultation on bus services in London, local London Assembly Member, Len Duvall AM, said:
“Whilst these proposed changes will have implications for a number of commuters, I will be urging TfL to ensure the overall level of disruption will be kept to a minimum.
“With 18 boroughs affected there will be winners and losers to come out of this consultation.
“It needs to be highlighted that for Greenwich and Lewisham residents, even minor alterations to existing bus services could have a major impact on people’s lives. I am particularly concerned about the changes to routes 53, 171 and 172.
“We know that there is a need to balance demand for bus services across London whilst helping to reduce congestion and air pollution on the busiest streets in the capital. However, during the upcoming consultation, it is essential that TfL listen carefully to any concerns local people might have towards these proposals.”
“I am keen to ensure that there is a large response to the consultation, so that TfL understand the value that people place on their bus services. For low income Londoners, buses are vital in enabling them not only to get to work, but to access services they need in their day to day lives.”
