News from Len Duvall OBE: Waiving of settled status fee 'least that can be done'

In response to the Prime Minister’s announcement today that the £65 application fee for EU Citizens to obtain ‘settled status’ in the UK, will be waived from 30th March, London Assembly Member, Len Duvall AM, said:

“Whilst this U-Turn from the Prime Minister is welcome, it is the very least that can be done to provide a small amount of reassurance to the million Londoners having to apply for settled status.

“In the wake of the Windrush scandal and in the midst of the shambolic handling of the Brexit negotiations, it is only natural that EU citizens living in London have been concerned about how they will be treated at the hands of this chaotic Government.

“City Hall is lending its full support to Londoners being made to face the application process for the right to remain, but going forward, we need to see the Government do more to ensure the most vulnerable Londoners do not slip through the cracks”.
