News from Len Duvall OBE: Catford Station has been awarded funding for step free access

In response to the Government’s announcement that Catford Station has been awarded ‘Access for All’ funding to deliver step-free access, local London Assembly Member, Len Duvall AM, said:

“This is great news for our community and will provide a lifeline for those with disabilities and mobility issues who struggle to easily access local transport links.

“This vital funding will go towards supplementing the Mayor of London’s significant investment into increasing step-free access across the tube network.

“It has been disappointing to see that the amount of funding allocated by the Government could only stretch towards six London stations receiving grants from the Access for All scheme.

“On the other hand, it is positive news that step-free access works at Hither Green, previously postponed by the Government, will now be progressed. I will be monitoring the delivery of step-free access at Catford Station, to ensure that is not subjected to the same delays.

“It also needs to be reiterated that there is a lot more work to be done to ensure that our capital is open and accessible to all and sadly some glaring gaps still need to be filled across our transport system”.
