News from John Biggs (past staff): John Biggs welcomes Mayor’s commitment on Crossrail fares

Created on
24 July 2013

Local London Assembly Member John Biggs has today welcomed the Mayor’s commitment that the fares he sets on Crossrail will be in in line with those charged on the London Underground and the DLR.

John had raised the issue as a written question at the recent session of Mayor’s Question Time on behalf of constituents who travel to and from Maryland, Forest Gate, Manor Park and Chadwell.

Labour London Assembly John Biggs AM said:

“Whilst I and my constituents welcome the advent of Crossrail services in these areas there were a number of concerns about the level of fares. I am pleased that at a time of rising costs for travellers, the Mayor has pledged to set them in line with other TfL fares and that all current travel cards will be valid for travel on Crossrail. Now we need the Mayor to listen to Londoners, many of whom are struggling with a cost of living crisis, and abandon his above inflation fare rise planned for January.”
