John Biggs has condemned TfL plans for longer weekend closures for overnight maintenance of the Blackwall Tunnel. TfL announced today (19th December) that from Sunday 6th January the hours of closure will change from the current 01.00 - 08.00 to midnight - 10.00 on Sundays.
Local Assembly Member John Biggs said “I appreciate that works need to be carried out and I welcome the fact that the closures will be limited to one per month but my constituents will be greatly inconvenienced by the extended closure and traffic build up will be chaotic. By 10am on Sundays many people will want to be out and about, visiting family, attending church or shopping. I urge TfL to think again.”
