News from John Biggs (past staff): Residents petition to extend 330 bus route to Whipps Cross Hospital

Created on
25 March 2014

John Biggs AM today (25th March) received a petition at City Hall from residents demanding an extension to the 330 bus route so it terminates at Whipps Cross Hospital.

Currently the 330 bus runs from Canning Town through Barking Road, Plaistow, Green Street, Forest Gate and finishes at Wanstead station. Local residents have said that many elderly and disabled people do not have cars and cannot afford taxis and are dependent on this bus service to get to the hospital. However, users of this service have to walk half a mile from Wanstead station to the hospital to attend appointments and receive care.

John Biggs, Labour London Assembly Member for City and East said:

“It does not make sense that elderly and disabled residents have to struggle to make additional journeys or negotiate bus changes to attend appointments at their local hospital. I applaud the efforts of the local community to highlight this issue. In light of this, I will be writing to Transport for London to ask that they investigate the feasibility of extending the route to Whipps Cross Hospital.”
