Labour London Assembly Member Joanne McCartney has welcomed the announcement from Mayor of London Sadiq Khan that the Night Tube will launch on the Central and Victoria lines on the 19th August with the Piccadilly, Jubilee and Northern to follow later in the autumn.

Commenting on the announcement that the Night Tube will launch on August 19th, Labour London Assembly Member for Enfield and Haringey, Joanne McCartney AM, said:

“This is a very welcome announcement and shows what progress can be made if you have a Mayor willing to put in the work. Obviously it is disappointing that the Piccadilly line won’t be included in the first wave but after almost two years of dithering and delay under the previous Mayor it’s nice to see that in only a matter of weeks Sadiq Khan has managed to start getting the Night Tube back on track.

“The Night Tube will be an excellent expansion of London’s transport network, and great news for the night-time economy but TfL have to introduce it in a safe and sympathetic way. That means having staff around to ensure passenger safety and action to prevent excessive noise disturbance for those living close to Night Tube lines.”
