News from Joanne McCartney: Joanne welcomes new Piccadilly Line train designs

Created on
04 March 2021

Responding to the release of the design of the new Piccadilly Line trains, London Assembly Member for Enfield & Haringey, Joanne McCartney said:

“The Piccadilly Line is a key artery in London’s transport network and these new trains are a major investment made by the Mayor which will make a huge difference to residents across Enfield and Haringey.

“Each train is set to increase capacity by 10% on the line, allowing the frequency to increase by an extra three trains per hour, which provides more much-needed capacity in the peak hours. They also have walkthrough carriages and air-conditioning which will make passengers journeys much more comfortable.

“We now need Government to step up and provide the extra funds needed so the track and signalling on the Piccadilly Line can also be upgraded. This will boost capacity even further and will ensure we get the most out of the new trains.”
