News from Jenny Jones (past staff): contact the Mayor

Created on
18 March 2015

Do you work, or run a business, in Hackney Wick, Fish Island or any other part of the Olympic Fringe? Are you struggling with short leases and high rents, or being told you'll need to relocate?

Jenny Jones is encouraging you to write to Boris Johnson, copying her in, with their stories. Last week she questioned Johnson, the Chair of the London Legacy Development Corporation, and the chief executive about the loss of industrial employment in Hackney Wick and Fish Island. But the Mayor said he was unaware of any businesses being driven out, and invited them to write to him as Chair of the LLDC.

You can email Boris Johnson at [email protected] copying in [email protected], or write to both at City Hall, The Queen's Walk, London SE1 2AA.

Jenny's questioning followed her publication of a report on the loss of industrial land in London, which has run at twice the planned rate for the last decade. Only 4% of industrial space in Hackney Wick and Fish Island was empty when the LLDC studied the area a couple of years ago, yet businesses are being forced out. You can also read the Mayor's response to her report.

Jenny visited Hackney Wick in drawing up her report.
