In response to figures revealed by a new report showing that one third of the capital’s children missed out on a place at their first choice secondary school this year, Labour’s London Assembly Education Spokesperson, Jennette Arnold OBE AM, said:
“These figures provide yet further evidence that we need to see significantly more investment from the government to bring all of London’s schools up to scratch.
“If we continue to see cuts to school funding in London, we risk widening the dichotomy between outstanding and underperforming schools in our communities.
“This has the knock-on effect of unfairly obstructing access to a good quality education for a significant number of children in the capital and could significantly limit the potential of the next generation of Londoners”.
