With High Street shops standing empty and commercial sites sometimes taking years before they are redeveloped, there is greater scope for imaginative pop-ups to fill the gap.
These can answer a need for affordable space for creative studios, start-ups, shops and community activities.
Central Parade is a mixed use creative hub housed in a former council centre and managed by Meanwhile Space CIC, which also runs spaces in 10 other London boroughs.
Members of the London Assembly Planning Committee will tomorrow visit Walthamstow Central Parade for an insight into the challenges and opportunities presented by these “Meanwhile Uses”.
