Sir Terry Morgan has confirmed his attendance at next week’s London Assembly Transport Committee meeting, to give his account of events prior to the Crossrail delay announcement.
On December 21st 2018, Chair of Transport for London, Sadiq Khan and Transport for London (TfL) commissioner, Mike Brown MVO, appeared before the Committee after being summonsed to answer questions on the Crossrail delay.
At that meeting both men were adamant that the information they were given through to August 2018 indicated the December 2018 deadline for opening Crossrail would be met.
However, Sir Terry Morgan says he informed the Mayor and TfL in July. The Mayor suggested he must have ‘misremembered’ events.
The Committee has summonsed further documents from TfL in an effort to get the bottom of the issue.
Other guests to be questioned from 10.45 include:
- Heidi Alexander, Deputy Mayor of London
- Tony Meggs, TfL and DfT nominee for role of Chair of Crossrail
- Mark Wild, Chief Executive, Crossrail Ltd
- David Hughes, Director of Strategy and Network Development, London Underground, TfL
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 9 January from 10:00am in The Chamber (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
Media and members of the public are invited to attend
