Responding to the announcement that the London Living Wage is rising to £10.55, Londonwide Assembly Member, Fiona Twycross AM, said:

“This significant boost to the London Living Wage will be a fantastic help to those in Bromley struggling to get by.

“In London we feel the rising cost of living more acutely than anywhere else, particularly due to the extremely high cost of housing. With a no deal or bad deal Brexit on the horizon, economic uncertainty and its potential impact on food prices and other key costs will further hit the lowest paid the hardest.

“We now need more local employers to sign up to the London Living Wage.

“Whilst the Government recently announced an increase in the National Living Wage, this still falls short of what Londoners actually need to earn to climb out of the grasp of poverty. They must now go further.”
