News from Dr Fiona Twycross (past staff): Exclusion zone decision protects women at their most vulnerable

Created on
02 July 2018

In response to the ruling that a ban will remain on demonstrations outside of the Marie Stopes abortion clinic in Ealing, Londonwide Assembly Member, Fiona Twycross AM, said:

“It is only right that this ban has been upheld. The buffer zone is vital in ensuring that women going through a very personal and difficult time are safeguarded from being targeted and aggressively intimidated.

“This ruling is centered upon upholding the fundamental rights of all women to safety and privacy- rather than denying freedom of speech.

“This is the strongest message yet that, in London, zero tolerance will be shown to threatening behaviour towards women who are at their most vulnerable.
