Calls for local youth clubs
and organisations to sign-up to new online summer activities map
Londonwide Assembly Member, Fiona Twycross AM, has urged youth clubs and organisations across Croydon and Sutton to sign-up to the Mayor’s recently published online summer activities map.
The map has been made available on the Greater London Authority (GLA) website as part of the Mayor’s #ourLDNsummer social media initiative to promote the wide range of sports and activities clubs open to participation across the capital over the coming months.
It comes on the back of the most recent Mayor’s Question Time, where Ms Twycross, quizzed the Mayor on his plans to link communities with their local youth services during the summer holidays.
Ms Twycross highlighted the ‘potential risks’ presented to young Londoners during the period by the increasing incidence of violent crime, calling for the appropriate support to be put in place.
The list of what is on offer in each borough is being continually developed, and community organisations and groups can request to be added to the list by completing and submitting a form on the GLA website.

“Sadly, we have seen the damage done by sustained Government cuts to youth services in the capital.
“Whilst it should be reiterated the majority of young people are not involved in crime, the summer holidays can present an increased risk of gang exploitation and abuse for the most vulnerable.
“The online activities map will provide an invaluable tool for young people looking to engage positively engage with each other and their local communities.
“I would urge all local youth clubs and organisations to sign-up to the map, to maximise its impact and ensure that it reaches as many families as possible”.
