Onkar Sahota AM praises the Tideway “Super Sewer” as “hugely important” for long term environmental sustainability
Onkar Sahota AM visited the Acton site of Tideway’s new “Super Sewer” on Wednesday 24th July. The tunnel is a 25km tunnel under London’s river that will prevent the tens of millions of tonnes of pollution that currently pollute the River Thames every year.
Having previously met with Tideway to discuss their work locally and the wider benefits of their project, Dr Sahota went to visit the sight in his constituency this week.
This expansion of London’s sewer network is due for completion in 2024 and is happening across 24 construction sites in London. These span from Acton to Beckton in the East, and many are located on the river edge in the centre of the city.
Following the visit, Dr Onkar Sahota AM said:
“The creation of the Super Sewer is hugely important for the long-term environmental health of the River Thames. Currently, we all know that the river remains polluted, and this project will be a new and radical solution to this problem.
“It was fantastic to visit our local site in Acton to see the work that they are doing first hand.”
