Responding to today’s publication of A&E performance figures, Labour’s London Assembly Health Spokesperson, Dr Onkar Sahota AM, said:
“These figures, though horrifying, are sadly not surprising. None of London’s A&E departments are performing to the standard of 95% of patients being seen in under 4 hours despite the tireless work of NHS staff. With the average performance of London’s A&E departments at just 74% we're dipping below the already shockingly poor national average and we have a trust in my constituency hitting the target for just 57.6% of patients.
“This is a crisis completely of the government’s making and a crisis that won't be solved by the renaming of a government department but only with the urgent injection of vital funding. The NHS is at breaking point and it is patients in London and across the country with some of the most serious needs who are suffering.”
