Violent crime in London as the capital reopens

Police and Crime Committee – 10am



The Police and Crime Committee will discuss the priorities of the Mayor's Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) as London reopens to ensure that violent crime does not return to pre-pandemic levels. It will reflect on recent knife crimes in the capital and look at the Mayor’s Knife Crime Strategy. With EURO 2020 kicking off on 11 June 2021, the Committee will also look at the links between football tournaments and incidents of domestic abuse. The guests are:

COVID-19 challenges across London

London Assembly – 10am

The London Assembly will question the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, and London’s leaders about the city’s response to the pandemic. With COVID-19 surging in parts of the capital, Assembly Members will look at what challenges are on the horizon for London. The guests are:

  • Andy Byford, Commissioner, Transport for London (TfL)
  • Andy Roe, Commissioner, London Fire Brigade (LFB)
  • Sir Stephen House QPM, Deputy Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis (MPS)
