Today, Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) released its report on the performance of London Fire Brigade for 2018/19.

Commenting on the release of the report, Chair of the London Assembly Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee, Andrew Dismore AM said:

“The HMICFRS report echoes the concerns the London Assembly Fire Committee has raised with LFB on its training for some time now. The Committee is due to question LFB on its training strategy after Christmas, when we will address the issues raised in today’s report in more detail.

“The other area of the report which raises concerns is the speed with which the Brigade has responded to the lessons of the tragic Grenfell Tower fire.

“The Committee voted this morning to hold a full confirmation hearing with the Mayor’s nominee to become the next London Fire Commissioner, Andy Roe.

“The meeting will be held at 3pm today and we look forward to reviewing how Mr Roe’s experience and qualifications could make him the right person for the job at this critical time for the Brigade.”
