In response to the Mayor’s announcement of £1.1 million of funding to significantly bolster the London Fire Cadets programme, Labour’s London Assembly Fire and Resilience Spokesperson, Andrew Dismore AM, said:
“I am delighted that the Mayor listened to our calls and announced a significant funding boost to this programme, so it can be expanded to every borough, providing positive opportunities to hundreds more young Londoners.
“The Fire Cadets programme plays a vital role in ensuring that the London Fire Brigade is able to attract and cultivate the next generation of talent from a diverse array of communities and backgrounds.
“With the sustained and reckless Government cuts that have been made to youth services in the capital, schemes like these also go towards plugging the gap left by years of underinvestment and equip young people with essential employability and life skills”.
