Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore has written to Heidi Alexander, Deputy Mayor of London for Transport to ask for a rethink of plans to divert the 143 and 326 buses away from Gravel Hill in Finchley Central.

TfL are extending the 125 bus route, which currently terminates outside St Mary’s Church, to Colindale, in order to improve access to the new council offices from the western side of the borough. The plan calls for the 125, the 143 and the 326 buses to turn onto Hendon Lane from the junction with Regent’s Park Road, as opposed to the current route via Gravel Hill.

Mr Dismore said:

‘The bus stops on Regent’s Park Road serve six routes and make an excellent interchange between them. Since the local library was moved from where the 125 currently terminates, it makes little sense to change the routes. The current bus stops also provide useful access for residents who live off East End Road. These are very good reasons why the current route should be kept’.
