TfL’s plans to change the S2 bus route

Key information

Petition presented by: John Biggs Assembly Member

Date petition submitted: Wednesday 18 June 2008

Petition presented at: London Assembly Mayor’s Question Time

Summary of petition

‘We the undersigned are opposed to Transport for London's plans to change the S2 bus route. Since the closure of Safeways in Roman Road, many residents in Bow have been forced to do their shopping at Tesco's at Bromley-by-Bow. The S2 has been providing a lifeline to that supermarket for hundreds of residents who do not have transport of their own. As the S2 both stops and starts (picks up passengers) directly outside the store, it makes it much easier for older residents and mums with young children to buy the shopping they need. Forcing passengers to carry their shopping through the dirty and dangerous underpass to a new stop at Bromley-by-Bow tube station will make life much harder for many residents in Bow. And so we call on Transport for London to retain the existing S2 route to Stratford or at least re-start the route outside Tesco's.’
