Save 24/7 Counter at Kensington Police Station

Key information

Petition presented by: Susan Hall Assembly Member

Date petition submitted: Thursday 11 September 2025

Petition presented at: London Assembly Mayor’s Question Time

Summary of petition

The Labour Mayor of London is responsible for the Met Police which has repeatedly failed Kensington and Chelsea since 2016.

After ending Borough policing, they then closed Notting Hill Police Station and now we learn the Met want to close the last remaining 24/7 police counter in the Borough at Kensington Police Station on the Earl's Court Road.

A key commitment of the "New Met for London" was to have at least one 24/7 front counter in each of London's 32 boroughs to make it easier for people to report crime. Many crimes don't get reported which leaves genuine hotspot areas under-manned so the police need to maintain front counters not close them.

RBKC is fortunate to have a number of brilliant Police officers and this is not fair on those excellent PCs and PCSOs who are already stretched. They need reinforcements not savage cuts.

We, the undersigned, call on Sadiq Khan the Police and Crime Commissioner for London to retain the 24/7 police presence at Kensington Police Station in Earl's Court Road.
