Summary of petition
“As regular commuters on the 235 bus, we constantly experience the struggle of overcrowded buses during peak hours. Starting from Sunbury village, the journey quickly becomes a competition to board the bus with both children and the elderly, among others, failing to do so because the buses reach maximum capacity too quickly. There is particularly an issue with capacity between Sunbury and Hounslow with buses often skipping stops.
This situation is far from optimal. Every bus user deserves to know that they will be able to get on their intended bus without any complications. According to Transport for London reports, the 235 bus route is among the most utilised routes, especially during peak hours, meaning single deck is insufficient. The need for a larger, more abundant transport solution is evident.
Therefore, we are advocating for the 235 bus route to be upgraded from a single-deck to a double-deck service. This change will increase the capacity of each bus, allowing for more passengers to comfortably make their daily commute, and ensure no one is left behind at the bus stop. We call on Transport for London to consider our petition and provide us with a response."
