138 Bus Timetable

Key information

Petition presented by: Thomas Turrell Assembly Member

Date petition submitted: Thursday 5 June 2025

Petition presented at: London Assembly Plenary

Summary of petition

“We the undersigned call on the Mayor of London as Chair of Transport for London to restore the 138 bus timetable to the previous timetable of one bus per 20 minutes instead of every half an hour.

The 138 is a popular and well used service. Many school children use the bus to get to school. The new frequency means this bus either gets pupils to school either too late or too early. The bus timetable should adequately reflect the travel demand of passengers which this simply does not.

The loss of service throughout the day will have a huge impact on elderly people, making it more difficult to get to Hayes and Bromley.

The lack of consultation from Transport for London has meant that local bus users were not able to voice these concerns about the impact prior to the change in service. This change contradicts the pledge to improve bus services in Greater London following the expansion of the Ultra Low Emissions Zone.

We call on the Mayor of London to reverse this change and reinstate the 138 to every twenty minutes.”
