Empty Homes funding

  • Reference: 2011/0799
  • Question by: Jenny Jones
  • Meeting date: 23 March 2011
Will you press for a slice of the £100m national HCA fund to tackle empty homes to be made available to the Big Society directly in London with an appropriately streamlined application and monitoring system, rather than going through boroughs who tend to present inefficient bureaucratic hurdles to smaller organisations? London has a number of short life, self-help and other community providers who could make good use of the money.

  • Reference: 2011/0794
  • Question by: Jenny Jones
  • Meeting date: 23 March 2011
If homelessness projects and services central to achieving your aim to end rough sleeping by 2012 were short of funds due to cuts from London Councils and individual boroughs, would you consider using your GLA General Grant to maintain their current funding levels on top of any support paid for by the £8.45m of money recently transferred to your control from the Government?
