Houseboat Mooring Fees

  • Reference: 2011/1151
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 23 March 2011
British Waterways is proposing to change regulations which would make many residential moorings in London prohibitively expensive. Do you have a view on this, and particularly the apparent view of BW that this should happen before the Olympics? A significant number of families who have relied on the existing arrangements will be driven out of East London by these proposals.

  • Reference: 2011/1150
  • Question by: John Biggs

  • Reference: 2011/1148

Public toilets

  • Reference: 2011/1147
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 23 March 2011
In November you told me, contrary to my question about Redbridge Council's plans to close public toilets, that "the London Borough of Redbridge has not actually adopted any proposals to close public toilets." How does your answer square with the fact that the Council, even against the wishes of a 1,000 strong petition, are closing four public toilets across the borough? I therefore restate my question 3685/2010: How does the coalition administration at the London Borough of Redbridge's cost-cutting plan to close public toilets fulfil your endeavours to promote the need for more public toilets?

  • Reference: 2011/1146

Violence against the person was up by 42% in Hounslow April - December 2010, while police numbers came down in Hounslow from January 2010 to January 2011. Do you think there may be a correlation?

Met investigation of 'phone-hacking by News of the World

  • Reference: 2011/1145
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 23 March 2011
Why does it take 45 full-time detectives - more than triple the number deployed to investigate illegal expenses claims by MPs, or nearly double the number of officers in one of Scotland Yard's regional murder squads to investigate the News of the World phone-hacking scandal?

Effect of oil prices

  • Reference: 2011/1144
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 23 March 2011
To what extent has the recent oil price spike explained the growth of tube and bus patronage since the beginning of the year?

RE:NEW

  • Reference: 2011/1143
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 23 March 2011
You did not answer my question 531 / 2011. How many homes - over and above the 817 treated in trails and the 8,045 retrofitted in the demonstration projects - have to date been treated under the RE:NEW programme?
