Deliver the 2012 Games

  • Reference: 2012/2268
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 04 July 2012
For MQT 1585/2012 I asked, 'Why did you claim, in your manifesto, that you will deliver the 2012 Games on time and on budget, when the big build was completed in July 2011?' Your answer was, 'Please see my response to oral MQ 1319 /2012.' The only mention of the Olympics in that oral response is, "Ensuring a true Olympic legacy, that is obviously to come. Some of those homes are there already but there will be, altogether, 11,000 new homes and 10,000 new jobs." I do not think that this actually answers the question I posed, so can you...

Buses on Diversion

  • Reference: 2012/2260
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 04 July 2012
I have received complaints from constituents that when buses are on diversion some drivers refuse to stop on request at bus stops as they are not on 'the route'. This has caused considerable inconvenience. Do you share my view that best practise would be for bus drivers to stop at bus stops on request from their passengers, rather than holding them prisoner and preventing them leaving the bus until the bus is back on 'the route' often some distance from the passenger's original destination.

Disruption to London's Streets

  • Reference: 2012/2259
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 04 July 2012
I have been contacted by a constituent who complains of frequent disruption to Londoners when streets are closed and buses diverted whilst organised races take place for runners and for cyclists. Will you conduct a review of this practise with a view to perhaps relocating some of the races to one of the main London parks?
