A constituent has queried what levers are available to you to improve the quality of meals served under your Free School Meals programme. Pre-opening mitigation schemes for Silvertown Road Tunnel

  • Reference: 2024/3243
  • Question by: Caroline Russell
  • Meeting date: 10 October 2024
Constituents have raised concerns with me that Transport for London (TfL) changes to road layouts for Silvertown Road Tunnel at Bow Roundabout, Preston’s Roundabout and the junction of the A13 and A102 were not shared with local walking and cycling organisations prior to scheme design or implementation. All these junctions have had concerning collisions over the past decade, and each of them also has a cycleway. Could you tell me what engagement, if any, TfL carried out with local groups on these junction changes and what information was provided to nearby residents prior to construction?

Regulating short-term rentals

  • Reference: 2024/3240
  • Question by: Zoë Garbett
  • Meeting date: 10 October 2024
London Councils estimate that one in every 85 homes in the city is currently available for short-term rent on online platforms, despite the 90-day online let rule per home, meaning far fewer homes are available for Londoners to live in. What powers are you calling for from the new Government, and what changes are you looking at making to the London Plan, to better regulate short-term lets?

New powers to tackle empty home crisis (1)

  • Reference: 2024/3237
  • Question by: Zoë Garbett
  • Meeting date: 10 October 2024
In May 2023, you and the leader of Westminster Council called on the previous Government to devolve more powers to set higher rates of council tax on empty homes and make it easier for councils to take over empty homes using Empty Dwelling Management Orders (EDMOs). Are you satisfied with the changes brought in on 1 April 2024 this year enabling councils to double council tax for residences that have been empty for 12 months? If not, are you lobbying the new Government for more powers?
