TfL fares (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Elly Baker
  • Meeting date: 21 November 2024
Elly Baker AM: Thank you, Chair. I have to say, I am delighted to see Assembly Member Wilson’s newfound commitment to affordable public transport. It is not something that I had noticed from Reform [UK] previously, but I have to say it does seem to be purely political point scoring. Having looked at Reform’s manifestos for both the general election this year and the mayoral election, there is absolutely nothing about London public transport. Nothing about the cost of fares and whether they wanted to keep them low. Nothing about concessions for older or younger Londoners, which the Mayor has...

Police Confidence (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Unmesh Desai
  • Meeting date: 21 November 2024
Unmesh Desai AM: Thank you, Chair. Good morning, Mr Mayor. Mr Mayor, you already talked about the various steps you have been taking to support our police force, including additional funding. It is a matter of record that funding from City Hall to the MPS has more than doubled since 2016, when you became Mayor. It is also a matter of record that the MPS has suffered from a decade of a billion pounds austerity cuts under the previous Government. Has this long-term underfunding of our police force impacted officer confidence and undermined the MPS’s efforts to tackle crime in...

Safety on the TfL network (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Hina Bokhari OBE
  • Meeting date: 21 November 2024
Hina Bokhari AM: Thank you. Just to go on from Kathleen Finnegan’s tragic situation with her family facing no support or contact from TfL in the aftermath of her death, and they had nothing until their local Member of Parliament (MP) Ed Davey [MP for Kingston and Surbiton] intervened and TfL agreed to meet her family four months after her passing. In September this year, you rightly apologised to Kathleen’s family for that lack of support. Since July, there has been two more fatalities linked to TfL. Do you know if TfL has offered the immediate support to those families?

The Budget and London (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Krupesh Hirani
  • Meeting date: 21 November 2024
Krupesh Hirani AM: Thank you, Chair. We have just seen the Conservatives talk down the Budget significantly and they want to talk it down, but we need to remember that they were in Government when we faced the 14 years of anti-London politics harming our city and, despite the economic difficulties inherited by the new Government, it has chosen to prioritise investment in our NHS, which the last Government left on the brink of collapse, almost half a billion pounds of capital funding for TfL, uplifting the AHP, and more than £200 million in additional funding to support rough sleeping...

Oral Update to the Mayor's Report (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Neil Garratt
  • Meeting date: 21 November 2024
Neil Garratt AM: Good morning. You mentioned the cost of living and young people, and one of the things that is adding to people’s cost of living is the fact that they may be overpaying for their travel. The TfL cyber incident means people cannot get into their Oyster accounts. This morning I see you have announced that applications for Zip, Oyster cards, and so on, will be reopening, but there is still no news on when people can find out about possible overpayments on their travel. When will the Oyster card website be back up?
