New Routemaster business case (2)

  • Reference: 2015/0069
  • Question by: Darren Johnson
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2015
Does the ratio of 0.2 to 1 for the New Routemaster Euro 6 buses rely upon an assumption that they will continue to operate in London for their full working life of 13 years, i.e. until 2029?

New Routemaster business case (1)

  • Meeting date: 21 January 2015
I note in your answer to 2014/4563 that you refer to the cost benefit ratio of 0.2 to 1 as 'just one element of a business case'. Can you confirm that the business case is based upon an assumption about the emissions from the Euro 6 vehicle, rather than actual figures from Millbrook testing ground? Will the business case change if the Millbrook results vary from your assumption and is there potentially an emissions level below which the business case becomes negative?

Watering down of plans for CS2 safety improvements (2)

  • Reference: 2015/0067
  • Question by: Darren Johnson
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2015
It has been suggested that the main reason you have abandoned plans for safety improvements on CS2 is because Whitechapel market traders want to park their vans in loading bays next to their stalls. Other markets in Tower Hamlets such as on Chrisp Street and Watney Street do not provide this facility. In addition, the bays at Whitechapel market are loading bays only, but traders routinely exceed the loading times, thereby breaking the law. Why should east London cyclists be put at risk to facilitate rule-breaking in this way?

Watering down of plans for CS2 safety improvements (1)

  • Meeting date: 21 January 2015
Cyclists in Tower Hamlets are dismayed by your decision to water down plans to make cycle superhighway 2 safer. The section running by Whitechapel market has been downgraded so that, instead of benefitting from a fully segregated cycleway, people cycling along the eastbound side of Whitechapel Road will have to mix with buses in a five-metre wide bus lane that includes a two-metre cycle lane. These are the same design features that were incorporated into the original CS2 design. How can you justify watering down these safety improvement plans when there is a clear and urgent need for a radical...

Constituent charged to obtain a crime reference number

  • Reference: 2015/0061
  • Question by: Jenny Jones
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2015
My constituent reported her mobile phone as lost to 101 and was directed by police to immobilise.com. After logging her lost item on the UK national property register via this site she was only offered a 'keepership certificate ID' not a crime number which she needed for insurance purposes. The only apparent way to obtain a crime number through immobilise.com is through a link to a different site - reportmyloss.com - who charged her £3.95 to obtain a crime reference number. One of the reasons given for closing front counters and police stations was so people could report online or...
