MOPAC - disposal of Raynesfield Estate, Merton (2)

  • Reference: 2015/0080
  • Question by: Stephen Knight
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2015
In answer to MQ2014/5109, you stated that any compensation offered to tenants who suffered financially as a result of the attempted disposal of MOPAC-owned properties in Raynesfield would be a matter for Crown Simmons Ltd to consider as landlord. However, it is clear that many of the substantial (and unnecessary) moving and storage costs incurred by residents could have been avoided if your Deputy Mayor's decision to halt eviction proceedings had been taken and communicated earlier in the process. Given MOPAC's direct responsibility for this situation, is it not right that you now consider offering compensation?
