LEPs and Governance

  • Reference: 2015/0128
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2015
In your answer to 2014/5934 you focus on perceived problems with the governance of the LDA. This is a red herring - as with the LEP a range of stakeholders is required in any such board and the primary decisions will always reside in the Mayor's office. This does however highlight a deficiency with the LEP Board structure. Can you list the members of the London LEP Board, the organisations or 'constituencies' they represent and any 'gaps' you perceive to exist in this membership?

On 17 December 2014, students and young people protested outside City Hall against your plans to cut the Greater London Authority's education and youth service budget. Are you still going to go ahead with these plans given the large-scale opposition from Londoners?

Support for LGBT Community

  • Reference: 2015/0124
  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2015
The Naz and Matt Foundation was setup to empower and support gay, lesbian and transgender individuals, and their friends and family to help resolve challenges linked to sexuality and gender identity, particularly where religious belief impacts on this significantly. Have you done any work that looks into this issue and what do you think you can do to help assist with this important work?

  • Reference: 2015/0123
  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2015
There appears to be hardly any specialist refuge provision for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gender (LGBT) population in London. Will you consider reviewing this and ameliorating this through your Office for Policing and Crime?

Domestic Abuse in the LGBT Community - 1

  • Reference: 2015/0122
  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE

Stonewall's Prescription for Change, published in 2008, states that one in four lesbian and bisexual women have experienced domestic violence, the same proportion as heterosexual, non-trans women. Similarly, according to the Stonewall's Gay and Bisexual Men's Health Survey 2011, half of gay and bisexual men have experienced some form of domestic abuse. What work have you done with relevant groups in London to combat this?
