Peckham Hill Street crossing

  • Reference: 2019/3957
  • Question by: Florence Eshalomi MP
  • Meeting date: 25 February 2019
The crossing located on Peckham Hill Street next to the library in my constituency has become increasingly dangerous for residents. The raised roadway confuses both motorists and pedestrians because it is unclear whether it is a formal crossing and who has right of way. If one car stops to let pedestrians cross then pedestrians start crossing without knowing whether cars from the other direction will also give way. Metropolitan Police Service gender diversity and community engagement

  • Question by: Florence Eshalomi MP

It helps to keep communities safe when local officers work to gain intelligence on what is happening with their community. Would you agree that if the Metropolitan Police Service is able to achieve a better gender balance this may improve the quality of policing as women and young girls may feel more confident to report their concerns and experiences to a female officer – whether this is on issues such as girls...

This represents quite slow progress over a ten year period. What plans do the MPS have to improve this recruitment ratio to closer to 50%?
