Playing Fields (Supplementary) [5]

  • Question by: Andrew Pelling
  • Meeting date: 19 November 2003
I know there is a particular planning case you are looking at at the moment, which refers to a field in my own constituency in Croydon, the Rowdown Field, so obviously you cannot comment on that. What are the basic principles that would allow you exceptionally, when you are giving consideration to a case on playing fields or even allotment sites, to give approval for development of such sites? What would the basic principles be?

What can you do to stop authorities deliberately running down playing fields as in Haringey, to make it easier for them to sell it?

With your new-found chumminess with the government, would you lobby them to direct that applications for playing fields come directly to the Mayor?

TfL Questionnaires (Supplementary) [5]

  • Question by: Angie Bray
  • Meeting date: 19 November 2003
I did not have a problem with cycling at all. I have a problem with the way TfL goes about its consultations.

  • Question by: Angie Bray
  • Meeting date: 19 November 2003
The point is - we found out that TfL does not get its act together very well. But, my next question is - it is not the only occasion. We have had endless cases. Roger Evans and I were both briefed by businesses in Knightsbridge about a consultation process where they only got the documents through their door after the consultation process had finished and the bus lane had started. Are you actually concerned that this is what is bringing these local consultations into such disrepute, because this is not how it should be done?

TfL Questionnaires (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Angie Bray
  • Meeting date: 19 November 2003
My point is, it is not just nine. There could have been a lot of others that were not returned. So, we will never know about that.

TfL Questionnaires (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Angie Bray
  • Meeting date: 19 November 2003
We do not know about the others.

TfL Questionnaires (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Angie Bray
  • Meeting date: 19 November 2003
Yes, but we only know about the nine because they were returned. We do not know about loads of others that might have been floating about in the area that were not returned. Presumably not returned because people realised what a complete waste of time the whole thing was. Those nine forms were delivered by people, who were clearly being paid, so that is a complete waste of money too. Are you not concerned that TfL's consultation seems to be getting such a bad reputation?
