Oxford Street Buses (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Roger Evans
  • Meeting date: 15 October 2008
Mr Mayor, when you make the changes to the bus routes in Oxford Street can you just assure me that you will be confident that the passenger information that is available will be changed to update the timetable for people? I say this because on a route in my patch, the 462, we have been trying for ages to get the timetables on the stops to reflect what has actually been done to change the bus service and it has not been done. It seems like a minor point but misinforming passengers is something we should avoid doing.

Oxford Street Buses (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Kit Malthouse
  • Meeting date: 15 October 2008
I just wanted to add one further point, Mr Mayor, for your consideration which is one of the big issues around rerouting of bus routes of course is the noise that they cause and, in particular, whether you can address the problems with the new Volvo bus that was introduced under the previous administration which sounds like the Red Arrows taking off whenever it takes off from a bus stop. I speak as somebody who used to live on a bus route into which the Volvo bus was introduced and decided to move specifically because of the noise that the...

Education (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 15 October 2008
You said in your conference speech that you, 'Intend to sponsor and open up ten new city academies during my Mayoral term'.

Transport Priorities (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Richard Tracey
  • Meeting date: 15 October 2008
Coming back to the terms of the question, which is the priorities for TfL under your leadership, Mr Mayor, can I suggest two priorities? You will not be surprised at what I am going to suggest to you! One is delivery - early and for good value - the East London Line Phase 2, which will be delivered by 2011, within your Mayoralty?

Transport Priorities (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Roger Evans
  • Meeting date: 15 October 2008
Whilst we are on the subject of transport priorities can you tell us a bit about your prioritising of cyclists' safety? Obviously you have personal experience of this and you circulated some stuff to us this morning. You know there will be a motion later on talking about cyclists and heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). What is being done to resolve that problem?

Transport for 2012 Olympics (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 15 October 2008
What about the upgrades to the Docklands Light Railway; are they going to be fully funded or are they at risk given TfL's difficult financial position?

MPA finances (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Dee Doocey
  • Meeting date: 15 October 2008
The second question I have is a number of councils are considering cutting the funding for Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) because of the financial position we are in. Do you have any plans to deal with this or will this result in less uniformed presence on the street?

Housing (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Andrew Boff
  • Meeting date: 15 October 2008
Mr Mayor, would you not agree that there is an awful lot of commentators at the moment who are telling us what is going to happen to housing and the only thing that is certain is that over half of them are going to be wrong?! As you stated, to make any investment on risky strategies would be very unwise at the moment. Would you also agree with me that this is not only an opportunity for us to build good quality houses that look good and are sustainable and all the rest of it, but which can now start...

Housing (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
  • Meeting date: 15 October 2008
Darren Johnson (Deputy Chair): OK. Thank you. Now question 2088 on housing in the name of Mike Tuffrey. Mike [Tuffrey] has indicated that he does want to come back on this issue. Mike Tuffrey (AM): Thank you; I am grateful for your indulgence. The specific question - because it is highly topical - there is a story running in the media this morning that Alistair Darling has released some funding from the Olympics contingency towards the Olympics Village. I gather that is not correct and that is not a new story, but what I am wanting to get from you...

London's economy (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Roger Evans
  • Meeting date: 15 October 2008
Roger Evans (AM): I think we have got to the point that perhaps we think London was over-reliant on the financial services sector but do you feel that our national Government was over-reliant on taking taxes out of London as well? Some people report up to £7 billion tax on the back of city bonuses. Will you join with - I should think the rest of the Assembly would support this - an approach to government to say they should take less tax from London in future and spread the burden more evenly across the country?
