FOI - Euston Intensification and Opportunity Area Borders

Key information

Request reference number: 3409

Date of response:

Summary of request

I note that Euston is referred to in the current London Plan as an “Opportunity Area” and this evolved from it’s designation in the first (2004) London Plan as an “Area For Intensification”. I would like to know why this area was chosen as an Intensification and Later Opportunity area and what reports, consultations and meeting minutes exist to give background to this.

Could you please provide me with the following information:

1) What was the Euston Intensification / Opportunity Area Borders in each of the 2004 / 2008 / 2011 London Plans (it appears to have changed - see below - but I can’t find any proper maps so the below could be wrong)?

2) Why was Euston originally chosen as an intensification area in the 2004 London Plan and why specifically were the opportunity area’s borders chosen (please provide or point me to the reports / meeting minutes / consultations that exist and give background).

3) If the Euston Opportunity Area borders have changed, why did they change (please provide or point me to the reports / meeting minutes / consultations that exist and give background).

4) Why was Euston changed from an Intensification Area to an Opportunity Area (please provide or point me to the reports / meeting minutes / consultations that exist and give background).
