FOI - Staff building access cards

Key information

Request reference number: 3547

Date of response:

Summary of request

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 I would like to request access to information which I believe is held by the GLA.

The information I require is in relation to the purchase of plastic building access cards for staff, staff passes or for temporary visitor identity cards.

Can you tell me:

  • Which Department within the GLA is responsible for the purchase of building access cards and staff passes?
  • What type of building access cards does the GLA use? i.e. are they Magnetic stripe, Mifare or other smart technology?
  • What is the procurement process for these items? i.e. does the GLA advertise on a procurement portal or simply request quotations from 3 suppliers?
  • Does the GLA print and encode cards in house or is this outsourced?
  • How much has the GLA spent on building access cards over the past 2 years?
  • On average how many cards does the council order over the course of a year?

I am requesting the information as I have been unable to locate the process of procurement within the GLA for these items.
