Motion detail

Alessandro Georgiou AM moved and Susan Hall AM seconded the following motion:

"This Assembly notes the Government’s commitment to work with the new U.S administration.

This Assembly recognises that the U.S is a significant contributor to UK economy, with U.S goods and services trade with the UK totalling an estimated $295.6 billion in 2022, with a large proportion of this attributed to London.

This Assembly also acknowledges that the U.S is a strong ally of London, not just in terms of foreign direct investment, but also in terms of the contribution it makes towards sports, culture and tourism in London. This includes the likes of the NFL, MLB, and Taylor Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour, which have all played a significant role in London’s economy in recent years.

This Assembly calls on the Mayor to join the Government and work with the new administration, as well as future U.S administrations, and the European Union to promote trade and foreign direct investment in London whilst maintaining our high quality standards.”

Following debate and upon being put to the vote, the motion was agreed with 15 votes in favour and 0 against.
