COVID-19 Testing and Financial Support

Key information

Date: Thursday 17 September 2020

Time: 11:00am

Motion detail

Dr Onkar Sahota AM moved, and Léonie Cooper AM seconded, the following motion:

"This Assembly notes the answers to the questions asked and puts on record its support for the work of the Mayor, Government, London Boroughs and other partners to oversee London’s response to COVID-19, through the London Transition and Recovery Boards.

This Assembly further notes its concern that ongoing challenges around capacity for testing and the resulting lack of a fully functioning test and trace system in London, the end of financial support for those who need to self-isolate and uncertainty around social distancing regulations could undermine London’s recovery and be devastating to the lives of Londoners.

This Assembly calls on the Mayor to continue to advocate for Londoners, both in our continued battle with the pandemic and in London’s recovery, and send a strong message to Government that it must learn lessons from the first wave of the pandemic and act accordingly.”

Following debate, and upon being put to a vote the motion was agreed (11 votes cast in favour and 4 votes cast against).
