Updated statement on Crystal Palace National Sports Centre

A spokesperson for the Greater London Authority, said: “The GLA has acted quickly to take down the unsafe floodlights at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. This means that Bromley Council is removing the exclusion zones and reopening the parts of the park that were previously closed on safety grounds.

“Plans for reopening the remainder of the National Sports Centre are being developed by centre operator GLL (Greenwich Leisure Limited).

“This will take place following the installation of temporary floodlights as soon as possible to allow for use of the stadium during the evenings.

“Some access roads and some of the National Sports Centre estate are expected to remain closed until late on Monday to support removal of final materials.”
