Mayor announces intention to appoint Keith Morgan as new chair of London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC)

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has announced his intention to appoint Keith Morgan as the new chair of London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC).

Keith Morgan has extensive experience in investment, banking, innovation and economic development. He was the founding CEO of British Business Bank plc, the UK’s economic development bank for business and an Executive Director of UKFI, which managed the government's shareholdings in the nationalised banks.

He joined UKFI from Banco Santander where he was an Executive Director of its US business and was previously a member of the Executive Committee of Abbey National in the UK.  Keith is currently a board member for a range of financial and government organisations and is also a Trustee for the Design Council, the UK’s national champion for design.

LLDC was established to use the opportunity of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the creation of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to change the lives of people in east London and drive growth and investment in London and the UK. Its aim has been to develop an inspiring and innovative place where people want – and can afford – to live, work and visit. More than 1,200 homes have been built on LLDC development sites, with a further 4,500 to be delivered over the coming years. Today, the area is becoming an innovative London metropolitan centre with a global outlook, powered by inclusive growth and shaped by community and opportunity at its core.

In his role, Keith will work closely with the Mayor and LLDC’s CEO Shazia Hussain to ensure LLDC continues to deliver new homes across the site and harnesses the Park’s assets and east London’s diverse talent to drive forward inclusive growth and shape the Park’s next chapter.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “I am delighted to have appointed Keith Morgan as the new Chair of LLDC.

“LLDC has delivered the best Olympic and Paralympic legacy anywhere in the world and I have no doubt that Keith’s expertise and experience will help us to deliver more homes and ensure Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park remains a top destination for Londoners and visitors to enjoy, as we work together to build a better, more prosperous city for everyone.”

Keith Morgan said: “The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is a remarkable legacy for London with its range of sports, residential, cultural, academic and innovation assets. I am delighted to be able to contribute to the Park’s next chapter, delivering on a huge opportunity for inclusive growth to benefit all Londoners.”

The proposal is subject to consideration by the London Assembly and will be confirmed in the next few weeks.
