Is London doing enough to tackle fly-tipping?
London continues to have the highest rate of fly-tipping in England, with 53 incidents per 1,000 people each year, more than double that of any other region.[1]
Tomorrow, the London Assembly Environment Committee will examine whether current efforts to tackle fly-tipping and illegal dumping are working, and whether the Government's new Waste Crime Action Plan and region-led approach can help reverse the trend.
Assembly Members will question representatives from London boroughs and the Greater London Authority on reporting processes, enforcement, prevention measures, and the role of national plans and wider co-ordination in reducing fly-tipping.
The final part of the meeting will be an opportunity for Committee Members to ask the Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy questions about London’s environmental progress.
