Come and join us on Saturday 8 June for the Eid Festival 2019 at Trafalgar Square.

Thousands of Londoners and visitors join us every year for this event, hosted by the Mayor of London, to celebrate the end of Ramadan with an exciting stage line up, family fun and delicious food.

Important information:

There will be a segregated prayer space at the South East corner of Trafalgar Square. Please note there are no ablution facilities on site.

Main stage line up

We're pleased to announce this year's Eid Festival stage line up with some exciting acts hosted by journalist, broadcaster and writer, Dr Myriam Francois and comedian and Lunch Monkeys actor, Abdullah Afzal.


12pm – Opening prayer the verse of Ramadan - Abdullah Ahmed

12.10pm – Koroleko Band

Contemporary West African music headed by the charismatic and talented multi-instrumentalist Moussa Dembele, a griot from Burkina Faso, the band is currently made up of six phenomenal musicians from Africa and Europe.

12.40pm – Lila Bhawa

UK's leading Indonesian Dance Group

1.00pm – Ismaili Community Ensemble

Community ensemble based in the UK who write original music with Islamic traditions at its core.

1.20pm – Asma Khan Q&A with the hosts

Asma Khan, owner of Indian restaurant Darjeeling Express in Soho, is the first British chef to feature on Netflix's Chef's Table.

1.30pm – Chand Ali Khan Qawaal and Party

UK based International Qawwali and Bollywood group, primarily performing in the art of Qawwali, the devotional music of the Sufis.

2.55pm – Refugee Week present Asma Elbadawi

Asma is an award-winning Bradford based spoken word poet. She has worked on refugee rights, migration, faith and identity. 


3.10pm – Refugee Week present The Damascus Band

The Damascus Band are a group of exceptional Syrian Classical musicians now based in the UK. Featuring the talents of Hamsa Mounif, Raghad Haddad, Taim Saleh and Walid Zaido.


3.50pm – Refugee Week present Muslim Belal

Ashley Chin also known as Muslim Belal is a British Muslim Rap artist, an award-winning British actor and screen writer who converted to Islam in 2002.

4.15pm – Penny Appeal Founder & Chairman Adeem Younis and KidBoss Shakira Rahmen Q&A with hosts

4.25pm – Alman Nusrat

Alman is an American born singer songwriter of South Asian descent whose alternative pop and world music is inspired by Islamic Spirituality

5pm – Iman Farrar


Iman is a singer/songwriter with a Malaysian/Australian background.  Her music is ready to inspire a generation of young girls through her music, interest in current affairs and social justice advocacy.


5.30pm – Muad

Based in the UK with Yemeni roots, Muad's soulful, R&B sound has poetic undertones raising important issues around faith, spirituality, hope and motivation.

Providing an opportunity for people of all cricketing abilities to try their hand at batting against an automatic bowler, with millions of variations of spin, speed and length, BatFast is great entertainment as well as being a professional quality training facility used by professionals across the country.

With the Cricket World Cup well underway and England playing Bangladesh in Cardiff on the day of Eid Festival, BatFast is expected to be a very popular addition to the event.

Refugee Week / Counterpoint Arts

Refugee Week started in 1998 as a direct reaction to hostility in the media and society in general towards refugees and asylum seekers. An established part of the UK’s cultural calendar, Refugee Week is now one of the leading national initiatives working to counter this negative climate, defending the importance of sanctuary and the benefits it can bring to both refugees and host communities.

At Eid Festival 2019, Refugee Week and Counterpoint Arts are presenting 3 acts on the main stage as well as curating a programme of creative activities on the North Terrace with a selection of NGO Refugee Week partners (Amnesty, Refuge Council, Red Cross).

Shade 7 & the Penny Appeal Bus 

Activities taking place in the Penny Appeal Bus and marquee.  Freelance storyteller and children’s entertainer, Anoushka Dunic will be running a fun and engaging session of children’s storytelling and activities, based around a game of Hats of Faith. Other activities include Match card game activity; 
Colour your own Eid Cards; Wooden Masks and an Interactive Photo Booth.

Khayaal Theatre

Eid Stories from Muslim Cultures performance of stories from a kaleidoscope of Muslim cultures throughout the day delivered by a multicultural cast.  Plus, promotion of their children’s book, Riding a Donkey Backwards, featuring the antics of the legendary icon of Muslim humour, Mulla Nasruddin.
